"The Great Hall looked magnificent. Not only were there a dozen frost-covered Christmas trees and thick streamers of holly and mistletoe crisscrossing the ceiling, but enchanted snow was falling, warm and dry, from the ceiling. Dumbledore led them in a few of his favorite carols, Hagrid booming more and more loudly with every goblet of eggnog he consumed. Percy, who hadn’t noticed that Fred had bewitched his prefect badge so that it now read “Pinhead,” kept asking them all what they were sniggering at. Harry didn’t even care that Draco Malfoy was making loud, snide remark about his new sweater from the Slytherin table.”
So, every year around this time I start going through my cookbooks and online bookmarks for what I’m going to make at Christmas - which I would probably lose by the 23rd, causing a mad dash around the kitchen leading to an alcoholic stupor on the 24th when I realised I had nothing to make. So … this year I thought I’d make it public and then I’d know exactly where to find it. Just FYI, I live in New Zealand, and our typical christmas is usually a BBQ with lots of salads, so this isn’t exactly a ‘traditional’ collection - and the sweet/dessert section is the biggest - but then, can you blame me?
Please let me know if any of the links aren’t working, and feel free to let me know your go-to recipes and I’ll add them to the list!
Fact! It’s never too early to start getting excited over Christmas and what this playlist lacks in coolness it makes up in good ol’ cheesy holiday spirit. Featuring tracks by Colbie Caillat, Michael Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, The Cadillacs, Brenda Lee, Dean Martin and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
